Ball valves are used to control and shut off water supply in a water network. They use a pivoting ball to control flow through it.

It is open when the ball’s hole is in line with the flow and closed when it is pivoted 90 degrees by the valve handle.

There are two main categories, the full bore and the reduced bore valves.

There is a large variety of ball valves depending on the material the valve is made of,

the handling mechanism as well as other characteristics such as anti-freeze design etc.
