Deya of Malevizi, after taking seriously the lack of water resources in the Heraklion region as well as the modern proven European and international leakage control strategies, decided to move on in system’s procurement in order to deal with leakage problems in the water supply network for the benefit of the overall adequacy of water resources.

Summary of the system:

  • The water supply system is exclusively supplied by drills – tanks, as well as a desalination plant through centralized benefits within the urban area of Gazi, which at the same time are the entrances of the city zones and where type A stations are also located, that record the hydraulic parameters (network pressure) and send them to the central control station.
  • Then, the water through the pipelines of the water supply network is transferred to the final consumers. In the provision of every consumer and within the existing borehole, a type B station is installed which monitors and records water consumption and alarms that may come from an upside-down counter, meter removal or violation, leakage etc.
  • Data from all stations is transmitted over the wireless communication network at the central control station which is located at the offices of Deya Maleviziou.

The central control station collects, records, visualizes and processes all data from type B stations.

System components:

  • Central control station, is installed in the control center of the authority of Deya Maleviziou, where the remote-control of the water network parameters is performed  have the appropriate software and hardware, to communicate with the local stations, gathering information and giving orders from one to another.
  • Local control stations (Type A), monitors the pressure in the supply zone area and regulates-report any malfunction.

 

  • Local consumer control stations (Type B) are located in the final control position (provision of end-users, within the wells of water meters, where the local control takes place.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • The communication network consolidates the communication of the central control station with local type B stations, using GSM-GPRS mobile network and consists of the counters of measurements, which through low power radio frequencies will communicate with local concentrators-transponders and the central concentrators through the GSM-GPRS network. The measurements are transferred to the main control center’s main computer for further processing.

 

 

The system operator is able to monitor, to be informed of the values of the measured sizes, to change parameters at each of the local stations, to be informed of possible system malfunctions, to export reporting forms, prints of the most important events, to program the routes on the handheld computers, to retrieve data from handheld computers, update the database etc.

 

     

 

This kind of system is ALREADY installed and in full operation in European Union countries but also in the United States of America, whereas this technology has seen great development.
