WORLD WATER LOSS DAY

The World Water Loss Day aims to raise awareness of the most precious commodity that is absolutely necessary for our survival, water.

Almost 1.8 billion people, a quarter of the world's population, live in 17 countries facing acute water shortages, a problem that is expected to worsen in the near future.

But small changes in daily habits can make a big difference in saving water, so:

  • Immediately repair any leaks that come to your attention in the home (flushing toilets, taps, etc.) and in case you find a leak.
  • Wash your car(s) at infrequent intervals, without a hose and using a bucket and sponge.
  • Water your balcony plants and flowers with a watering can, either in the early morning hours or after sunset.
  • Don't turn the sink and kitchen taps on all the way if you can serve yourself with less water.
  • Use washing machines and dishwashers only when they are full, setting them on the economy programme and avoiding frequent use for a few items of laundry or dishes.
  • Do not leave the taps on when brushing your teeth or shaving or soaping dishes.
  • Rather than filling up your bathtub to wash your body, take a shower.
  • Watch out for your children and don't let them waste water by playing with the taps on in your house.

With these small changes to your daily routine you will be able to save water and provide you with a better future.
